Homes in Jersey City Offer Easy Access to NYC

Not only do many homes in Jersey City feature spectacular views, access to exciting dining/entertainment options and superb investment value, but they also allow residents easy entry into New York City. Whether you’re traveling by car, bus, train or ferry, Manhattan is a short trip from Jersey City.

According to Jersey City’s web site – www.cityofjerseycity.com – residents have “access to a wide variety of transportation options. Whether you’re walking, biking, driving, taking the bus or train, or relaxing on the ferry, if you start in Jersey City, you can get there from here.”

With regard to commuting, the trip from homes in Jersey City to New York City can be referenced in minutes, not hours. Ever try to drive from central New Jersey into Manhattan on a busy Monday morning? Good luck getting through the tunnel by lunch time.

Homes in Jersey City, however, are close to the New Jersey Turnpike, Routes 1 and 9, and the Holland and Lincoln Tunnels. Drivers might even check traffic cameras provided by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority’s web site before stepping out of their front doors.

For those who prefer not to drive into New York City, New Jersey Transit offers bus and train service that transports thousands of Garden State residents on a daily basis. Furthermore, those traveling from homes in Jersey City can take advantage of PATH Train service and the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail System.

The PATH Train, which operates 24 hours, seven days and is managed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, makes several stops in the Jersey City area. The Hudson-Bergen Light Rail System supports travel north and south of Jersey City.

A fourth commuting option exists for those not inclined to drive or hop on a train or bus. New York Waterway ferry service presents a quick, comfortable alternative for commuters and tourists alike. Jersey City residents have easy access to the ferry at the Paulus Hook and Liberty Harbor/Marin Blvd. terminals. The ferry also allows one to appreciate the breathtaking skyline views of both Jersey City and Manhattan.

Commuting into New York City, though, isn’t cheap – no matter where your point of origin. New Jersey Transit, in fact, recently released a proposal to increase fares by 25 percent and cut service in response to the state budget deficit.
Nonetheless, homes in Jersey City offer easy access to the most exciting city in the world.
