New Jersey soccer fans at long last have access to a state-of-the-art athletic venue. The New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer opened Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey, on March 20.
Though the home team dropped the exhibition match to Brazil’s Santos FC, the opening represented a new opportunity for soccer fans living in condominiums in Jersey City and around the state. Spectators can now take a quick trip to the arena by car or train (both PATH and NJ Transit lines travel to the Harrison station).
All 25,000 seats are protected from inclement weather inside the soccer-only facility. The Red Bulls’ former home, Giants Stadium, is scheduled for demolition as the New Meadowlands Stadium prepares for its debut.
According to a recent account published in The Star-Ledger, “Seeing people in the upper deck was a rare sight at Giants Stadium, but it should be a routine sight from now on. And while 25,000 might have come close to filling the lower bowl at the old place, it still left a cavernous echo. Saturday night, 25,000 screaming fans seemed like 50,000,” (www.nj.com).
Condominiums in Jersey City offer access to a wide variety of professional athletic options. In addition to the New Meadowlands Stadium, future home of the NFL’s New York Giants and Jets, the NBA’s Nets play at the Izod Center in East Rutherford. And across the Hudson River, Manhattan and the other boroughs feature multiple venues and teams.
But the newest star on this stage is Red Bull Arena.
The Arena, which was constructed with all the latest fan-friendly bells and whistles, includes 30 skyboxes and two party decks. Two video boards and 300 flat-screen panels give spectators the ability to see every second of action with exceptional clarity.
Residents of condominiums in Jersey City have long had access to world-class cultural, dining, shopping and entertainment choices around each corner. And who can ignore the thousands of distractions offered by Manhattan – perhaps the world’s most interesting city – a short car, train or ferry trip away from Jersey City?
Now residents of Jersey City also have access to another world-class athletic venue in Red Bull Arena.
